Frequently asked questions
What is Cat Sudoku?
Cat Sudoku is a logic puzzle where you place cats on a grid split into colored regions. Each row, each column and each colored region must hold exactly one cat, and no two cats may touch, not even diagonally. It uses the same one-per-row-and-column idea as Sudoku, but with cats instead of numbers.
How is Cat Sudoku different from regular Sudoku?
Regular Sudoku asks you to write the digits 1 to 9 in every row, column and 3×3 box. Cat Sudoku has only one kind of piece, the cat, and you place exactly one per row, column and color. The extra 'cats can't touch' rule replaces Sudoku's digit logic, so there's no arithmetic and boards range from quick 5×5 grids to tricky 9×9 ones.
Is Cat Sudoku the same as the Queens puzzle?
They share the same rules. Queens-style puzzles place crowns or queens; Cat Sudoku places cats. If you know one, you already know how to play the other.
How many Cat Sudoku levels are there?
There are 50 numbered levels from 5×5 up to 9×9, plus a new daily Cat Sudoku every day. Your best time for each level is saved in your browser.
Can I play Cat Sudoku for free without downloading?
Yes. Cat Sudoku on Puzzdoku is free, runs in any modern browser on phone or computer, and needs no app or account.
